Type B offers an instantaneous short-circuit response level of 3 - 5 x rated current, making it suitable for circuits with moderate input currents, such as incandescent lamps, heating loads, and small/domestic building protection applications. Type C offers a short-circuit response level of 5 - 10 x rated current, making them suitable for circuits with high input currents, such as motor control and fluorescent lighting installations in industrial buildings, where noise could cause an incorrect disconnection if a faster type were used.
