Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD high-performance gear oils are based on synthetic hydrocarbons (PAO) and contain special PD additives (plastic deformation) that significantly exceed the effect of classic EP additives. The special effect of the PD additives develops as a function of load and temperature and provides optimum wear protection at all times. The surface is smoothed by the effect of the PD additives without causing abrasive wear (plastic deformation). Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD are CLP-HC gear oils, characterized according to DIN 51502. Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD gear oils exceed or meet the current minimum requirements according to DIN 51517-3 for CLP gear oils and contain detergent additives. Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD gear oils are approved by Flender GMBH (formerly Siemens Mechanical Drives) for use in gearboxes and gear motors. Application Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD high performance gear oils can be used in spur, bevel and planetary gearboxes as well as in gearboxes with high loads and shocks and are excellent for the lubrication of rolling bearings with oil lubrication. Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD is specially formulated to reduce friction losses. The PD additives and the resulting smoothing of the surface contribute significantly to this. Compared to conventional lubricants, a reduction in energy consumption is possible. In addition, the risk of pitting or the formation of micropitting is significantly reduced due to the improved load distribution in the contact zone of the friction partners. Due to the synthetic base oils, Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD high-performance gear oils are also suitable for a wide operating temperature range from -40 °C up to +100 °C (up to +120 °C for short periods) and extended operating times can be realized (the lower operating temperature depends on the pour point of the respective ISO VG). Castrol Optigear Synthetic PD is compatible with the commonly used elastomer and seal materials.
