Friction Clutch

The friction clutch is a mechanical device used to transmit torque between two shafts while allowing for the disengagement of power transmission. It operates by utilizing friction between two surfaces in contact, typically a driven plate and a pressure plate.

When the clutch pedal is depressed, the driven plate is separated from the pressure plate, interrupting the flow of torque. Releasing the clutch pedal brings the plates back into contact, re-establishing the power transmission.
