Digital Refractometer PCE-DRW 2 for Wine

Digital Refractometer PCE-DRW 2 for Wine

Water-Resistant Digital Refractometer for Wine PCE-DRW 2

To determine the sugar level in wine / Parameters: Brix, Oechsle, KMW or alcohol content / Ideal for viticulturists / IP65 protection / Automatic shut-off

The PCE Instruments digital wine refractometer has been developed to determine the degree of grape ripeness in the viticulture sector. The wine refractometer is used to accurately determine the sugar content in the must. This allows the viticulturist to effectively determine the alcohol content of the wine. The riper the grape, the more sugar it usually contains. This sugar is converted into alcohol. The wine refractometer is an instrument that is based on the refractive index of a liquid. By using the wine refractometer, the user can measure the sugar concentration in grape must with just a small sample. Just a few drops of the must are sufficient to be placed in the sample holder of the device to obtain a conclusive result. The sample holder integrates a prism. Thanks to the refraction of light, it is possible to measure the sugar content of the must. On average, about 16.5 g of sugar corresponds to 1% alcohol. The integrated light source of the digital wine refractometer prevents measurement errors, which can easily occur in an analog wine refractometer, caused by ambient artificial light. After automatic temperature compensation (+10 ... +40 ºC), you can quickly and accurately display the measurement value on the large LCD screen of the wine refractometer. The user can change the units of the wine refractometer: Brix (0 ... 45 %), Oechsle (3 .. 150), KMW (0 ... 25.00) or the alcohol content (0 ... 22 %). Additionally, thanks to the integrated temperature sensor, you can also read the measured temperature on the screen.

The crystal prism integrated in the stainless steel sample holder of the wine refractometer is quickly and easily cleaned before and after a measurement. It also has a plastic lid to cover it. The manufacturer has designed the wine refractometer so that the crystal prism is protected from damage. The three keys ensure comfortable and easy handling and practically prevent any misuse of the wine refractometer. To extend battery life, the manufacturer has integrated an automatic shut-off function into the device. After one minute of inactivity, the refractometer turns off automatically. The user can recalibrate the wine refractometer at any time. To do this, simply place a few drops of distilled water in the sample holder and press the corresponding key to start calibration.

Fields of Application of the Refractometer for Viticulture

A refractometer measures the concentration of dissolved substances in liquids. Thanks to its easy handling, the PCE Instruments wine refractometer is ideal for determining the degree of grape ripeness in a few seconds. Its ergonomic design allows you to use the wine refractometer anytime and anywhere. The housing, with a robust and water-resistant design, is made of ABS plastic, making it particularly suitable for outdoor use. Its simple handling and flexible use make the PCE Instruments wine refractometer an indispensable device in viticulture. The refractometer provides the winemaker with valuable information that helps them make decisions in a very short time. With the wine refractometer, the winemaker can quickly determine the must weight, an important quality characteristic in viticulture, in situ.
