ControlLogix Controller

The ControlLogix controller provides a scalable solution where the controller can handle a large number of I/O points. The controller can be placed in any slot of a ControlLogix I/O chassis and multiple controllers can be installed in the same chassis.

Multiple controllers in the same chassis communicate with each other through the backplane (similar to how controllers can communicate over networks), but they operate independently. ControlLogix controllers can monitor and control I/O through the ControlLogix backplane as well as through I/O links.

Communication

ControlLogix controllers can communicate via EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, Universal/S, and RS-232-C (DF1/DH-485 protocol) networks for remote connections and many third-party process networks and devices. To provide communication for a ControlLogix controller, install the appropriate communication interface module in the chassis.

The ControlLogix 5560 (L6) is part of the Logix5000 family of controllers. A ControlLogix system includes:
