IP Rating

The first digit refers to protection against solid objects, while the second digit refers to protection against water.

• 0 - No protection
• 1 - Protected against solid objects up to 50mm, such as accidental contact with a hand. Also protected against dripping water (condensation).
• 2 - Protected against solid objects up to 12mm, such as fingers. Also protected against dripping water.
• 3 - Protected against solid objects up to 2.5mm (tools and wires). Also protected against direct spray of water at angles up to 15° from the vertical.
• 4 - Protected against solid objects up to 1mm (small tools and wires). Also protected against direct spray of water from all directions.
• 5 - Protected against dust; limited ingress, not forming harmful deposits. Also protected against low-pressure water jets.
• 6 - Totally protected against dust. Also protected against high-pressure water jets (can be used on boat decks).
• 7 - Protected against the effects of immersion between 15cm and 1m.
• 8 - Protected against prolonged periods of immersion under pressure.

IK Rating

Indicates the degree of protection against mechanical impacts.
