Vital Safety Controller, Basic Unit

ABB's Vital safety device is the heart of a new solution that allows installation/connection of many different types of safety devices on the same safety circuit and still achieve Category 4 safety according to EN ISO 954-1/EN 13849-1. The Vital module is based on a single dynamic channel concept compared to conventional dual-channel safety relays. ABB has designed this unit to support up to 30 dynamic sensors within the safety circuit that can be monitored with a Vital module. Therefore, the Vital unit can replace several safety relays.

Safety components with output contacts can be connected to the Vital via economical Tina adapters. The Vital also offers automatic or manually supervised reset options, dual safety outputs, and an information output for reset indication and status information for the PLC.

Unused ports in Tina 4A and 8A must be blanked using a Tina 1A suppression male connector.
