IP Rating

The first digit refers to protection against solid objects, while the second digit refers to protection against water.

• 0 - No protection
• 1 - Protected against solid objects up to 50mm (e.g., accidental contact with a hand)
• 1 - Protected against water droplets from vertical drops (condensation)
• 2 - Protected against solid objects up to 12mm (e.g., fingers)
• 2 - Protection against direct spray of water at angles up to 15° from the vertical
• 3 - Protected against solid objects up to 2.5mm (tools and wires)
• 3 - Protection against direct spray of water at angles up to 60° from the vertical
• 4 - Protected against solid objects up to 1mm (small tools and wires)
• 4 - Protection against spray of water from all directions
• 5 - Protected against dust, penetrates in a limited way (does not form harmful deposits)
• 5 - Protection against low-pressure water jets
• 6 - Totally protected against dust
• 6 - Protection against high-pressure water jets (can be used on boat decks)
• 7 - Protected against the effects of immersion between 15cm and 1m
• 8 - Protected against long periods of immersion under pressure
