Ford Cup Viscometer PCE-125/4

Ford Cup Viscometer PCE-125/4

Ford Cup Viscometer / International Standards: ASTM D1200, D333 and D365 / Machined Anodized Aluminum with Interchangeable Stainless Steel Nozzle

The Ford cup viscometer is used to quickly and easily determine viscosity in liquids. Please note that it is only applicable to low-viscosity liquids. Dense pastes and other high-viscosity substances are not suitable for measurement with a viscosity cup. The structure of the Ford cup viscometer is regulated by the DIN standard, and is therefore always the same. It consists of a hollow, cylindrical body that usually ends in an interchangeable nozzle. The openings of the nozzles are regulated, as is the cup, by the DIN standard.

The measurement is performed as follows: First, the nozzle is kept closed and the cup is filled with the substance to be measured. Remember that it is necessary to fill the cup to the top. An overflow channel prevents falsification of the measurement by liquid that may leak out. Then, pass the plate of glass over the cup to remove the excess material. You can now open the nozzle. Due to the vacuum generated, the material remains in the cup. If you now remove the glass plate horizontally, you must start the timer. When the flow stops for the first time, you must stop the timer. When using a Ford cup viscometer, keep in mind that, depending on the medium used, you must thoroughly clean the cup. Otherwise, residues may remain in the cup that could falsify future measurements. Scratches also falsify the measurement, as the removed material changes the volume of the cup, so it no longer complies with the DIN standard.
